Can users with no account open Reader snippets in Cluing?

Reader snippets in public Topics can be opened in view-only mode by anyone with the link

Written by Nemanja Trtica

If you save a PDF or Canvas document as a snippet in a public Topic, anyone with the link can open and read it in view-only mode - no Cluing account required.

This works for two types of Reader snippets:

  • PDF snippets - PDFs you've opened and saved directly into a Topic

  • Canvas snippets - Canvas documents you've saved back into a Topic after drafting or editing

How to share a Reader snippet publicly

1. Save your content as a snippet

  • For a PDF: open the PDF in Cluing and save it into a Topic

  • For a Canvas: finish working in Canvas, then save it as a snippet back into a Topic

2. Set the Topic to public

  • Open the Topic, go to General Access, and set it to "Anyone with the link"

3. Share the clu.ing link

  • Copy the Topic link and send it to whoever needs access

👉🏼 When the recipient opens the link, they click Locate next to the snippet - this opens the content in the Reader in view-only mode. No sign-up, no account needed.

📌 Note: Only snippets in Topics set to "Anyone with the link" are accessible this way. Snippets in private Topics remain visible to workspace members only.
